THE SAVOY

Denver, CO

YEAR
2021

SCOPE
Interior Design

The Savoy theater was built in Denver in 1889, The Savoy is cherished historic gem in Curtis Park. Witnessing a kaleidoscope of uses over time – from a vanilla extract factory to apartments and a dance hall – it has evolved into an intimate performance center and a celebration of the rich spirit of Five Points.

In this latest evolution of the building, a new entrance, staircase, and a charming ticket counter were added. Ascending the stairs, a custom arched handrail, crafted from steel, lends artistic flair. A gallery wall adorned with Vaudeville imagery enhances a sense of place and stands out against the jewel-toned walls. The warm wood bar, draped in Victorian wallcovering, resembles a classic armoire – a place for honoring family heirlooms and serving as storage for traveling acts. European-inspired flooring, art deco fixtures, and tin ceilings infuse a whimsical ambiance throughout. Original wall sconces and revitalized milk glass shades pay homage to the building's history, ensuring it remains a luminous beacon in the community's collective memory.
